Selected Shots
Below are a bunch of clips that I selected for my final video edit
Rejected shots
Below are a bunch of clips that I rejected. These clips where a part of my first cut but since they did not appeal to me a lot I removed them in the final edit
First cut
The first edit was not as bad as I had expected it to be. I was actually really happy with what I had done. The main reason why I didnt like the first cut a lot was because there were a couple of shots that did not appeal to me and did not work together. I did not like the performance part as I felt like it was not strong enough so for the final video I made the main female protagonist sing the lyrics. As she was a good actor the way she sung with her expressions left a strong impact.
Editing of the Final Music Video
As for editing I went for a bit of a dark theme in the domestic shot to represent the sad tragedy of domestic violence, I played with the exposure to make it seem gloomy and tragic.
For transitions I edited on the beats so that people know that the video was made while keeping the audio in mind. The opening seemed bland in the first draft so I added some sound effects to keep the viewer hooked as it was a dramatic scene.
To keep the dramatic theme of the music video going I added black bars on the top and bottom this was done by adding the adjustment layer then I added the crop effect on the and cut 8% from the top and bottom.
In the end I decide that I showed the breaking point first and the running away shot right after the opening scene to keep the audience hooked to the video to show flashbacks. Overall the editing took 3 days from which I had two drafts and one final video. there were not any complex editing involved as I wanted it to be a straight forward dramatic video which got the message across and touched people hearts.
